Ohnoah Wrote 'FMU' for the Love You Couldn't Quit!

There are artists who write songs, and then there are artists who survive through them. Ohnoah is firmly stepping into the latter.

Ohnoah (also goes by Nouri Frenken) grew up non-binary and queer inside a macho North African/Italian household and they didn't exactly get a soft landing into the world. At mere 17, they left a destructive home with little more than the need to create. They've since played Best Kept Secret, Sofar Sounds, and Down the Rabbit Hole, spent a chapter of their life living in a van and never gave up on making music.

FMU (F*ck Me Up) is their second single and it swings between genres like modern pop and emo rock. Lyrically, it does not shy away from stepping into the actual ugliness of loving something that's destroying you. Codependency, substance abuse, the circular hell of bad patterns you keep choosing anyway.

This is only the second chapter of what feels like a very important body of work, one being built specifically for the people who feel invisible: the queer kids, the mentally struggling ones, the ones who love things that hurt them and can't quite explain why. Ohnoah is building a world for the ones who've been left out of most others, and if you ask me, it's only getting more interesting from here!!
