Kelsie Kimberlin is a 26-year-old American-Ukrainian singer-songwriter who has been making music her entire life. At just eight years old, she recorded for Yoko Ono's Peace Project and walked away with first prize and $5,000, every bit of which she spent on her music classes. By 12, she was recording her own music in a proper studio.

Now at 26, Kelsie Kimberlin returns with her brand-new song and music video, “Lady Liberty." The song is about this fading idea: an idea that America is a welcoming place for people. She describes how the Statue of Liberty, with its torch held high, standing proudly in the harbour, is being betrayed. The torch isn’t shining as brightly as it used to anymore.
Kelsie sings about immigrants and the indigenous people who built this country from the ground up. "Lady Liberty" mirrors the core theme of the song in its instrumentals: eerie and discomforting, paired with gripping lyrics.
It isn't just the politics of "Lady Liberty" that's worth your time, but the humanity of it. Go watch the video. Share it. Talk about it. And remember that no one is illegal on stolen land.
