Don't Let "Last Rodeo" by Torfevas Pass You By. It's Too Good For That!

Torfevas is a band that seems more like a family. It's just Þórarinn Torfi, his wife Eva Símonardóttir and her cousin Egill Arnarson. Egill had the narrative vision while Eva found the melody and Þórarinn put it all together and made something worth listening to, which is their brand-new single, "Last Rodeo."

What floored me was when I read that "Last Rodeo" was written roughly 25 years ago!

When the band finally decided it deserved its moment in a proper studio, they came in and made something that I think is absolutely stunning. Þórarinn handled production and arrangement while Eva layered her vocals over and over herself, building an incredible range of stacked harmonies. It fits comfortably in that sweet space between country and soft acoustic territory. The kind of song that feels heartwarming on a slow evening with a good drink in hand!

Songs like "Last Rodeo", they don't age. They just settle in deeper over time and only end up feeling more and more relevant. If you're someone who grew up on artists like Nanci Griffith or early Shawn Colvin, this one's for you.
