Mascara Wizard is a Montreal-based folk-pop group that was formed during the lockdown of 2020. The group's debut single, "Elderberry," was released on all digital streaming platforms on April 12, 2024, and has been well-received as part of Mascara Wizard's musical repertoire.
The track was born when poet and musician Simina Banu gifted it to fellow musicians Iola Patalas and Michael Johancsik, who were part of the acoustic band The Oops Kitchen. However, the trio felt that the track was missing something without its creator, so they decided to form a new project together, leading to the birth of Mascara Wizard.
This release exudes a relaxed yet invigorating vibe, gradually unfolding in an utterly genuine and satisfying manner. It seamlessly blends a raw, minimalist sound with delicate electronic touches, infusing it with depth and a well-rounded appeal. Each listen reveals new layers of enchantment, from subtle sonic details to the understated yet compelling vocals, accompanied by subtle transitions in mood and atmosphere.
Listeners are drawn into its spellbinding allure, captivated by its understated beauty and rich complexity. It's a testament to the artist's skill in crafting an immersive sonic journey that resonates deeply with its audience, leaving a lasting impression long after the music fades.
